The Scent of Rain by Kristin Billerbeck is about Daphne
Sweeten, who finds herself being stood up for her wedding as well as losing her
sense of smell which her whole career was based upon as a scent designer. Her
dream job was also no longer possible as her ex-fiancée took her dream job in
Paris, but she still decides to move to Ohio where she had a job waiting which
would have her developing scents for household products. When Kristin enters
into this new job, a relationship begins with Jesse, the new boss of the
company.
I liked this book, but it wasn’t my favorite book I have
read so far this summer. I don’t know if I really connected with the
characters, or if I could relate to them. I think it may be because they were
at a different point in their lives than I am now.
